we'll know soon! I'm hesitant to touch the car until things are sorted out with the towing company.

Already spoke to my service advisor/bestie at my local audi dealership and they're thrilled about the opportunity to push my broken POS around the property to fix the air suspension.

I am curious if Taycan has similar coolant leak problems on their motors?

Funny....you don't hear of any coolant leaking issues from the Etron GT folks on their forum.

I don't believe any other EV on the market uses water based rotor cooling.

The Q6 Etron is the closest, but pumps oil through the rotor in a vaguely similar way to my plan to cool the rotor with transmission fluid.

Thanks! How do other cars cool the rotor? How does the Etron GT do this?

with the exception of the Etron and Q6 etron all rotors are passively cooled (I'm looking for others though).

It's worth noting the ID4 uses an eerily similar motor layout (but permanent magnet instead of induction, slightly more efficient) which disproves my thought they they did coolant rotor cooling because they hollowed out the rotor.

but passive cooling, which is why I thought I might be able to get away with that on our motor. And it seemed to be working fine until my motor shorted out.

Sounds like a passively cooled motor is the way to go for the future. Less complicated and no coolant leaks to destroy the motor.

Just realized @HCx you are also in AZ. The summer time would be a test for your solution for sure. After it is proven work, do you have plan to commercialize it? I like the car but this motor issue makes me hesitate to keep the car long term.

If I can easily identify the isolation fault sure why not. Most people don't get the low coolant warning before the isolation fault kills everything.

I can't imagine I'll have a fleet of Etrons in my wake waiting to do this.

Then again since you can get one of these for 2 nickels and a complement now....
