when I got my first job offers 20 years ago to leave the state I grew up in my first question was 'do they need a front plate' and yes it would have stopped me from moving.

This is the best method that I have seen as far as mounting the front plate goes. CA is now allowing front license plate wraps which is basically a sticker. Unfortunately, the Audi front ends are not smooth anywhere and there is no good place to apply a license plate wrap. I still have yet to get a fix-it ticket for not having the front license plate on my E-tron. However, a local sheriff did make a comment about it when I was in town the other day. It's not a very big town, mind you. He said that he has seen me driving around in that car for a while and wanted to know when I plan on installing the front plate. He also reminded me that not having a front plate is a $192 fine. So, I guess that's one of the negatives of driving a car that's somewhat rare. I don't see very many e-trons around here, and those I do see are lower trims. I wouldn't be surprised if I have the only Chronos trim e-tron in this zip code.
Anyway, after the sheriff suggested that I deal with it, I am going to install the front plate using this drill-4-holes-and-ziptie method. Thanks to the OP for the idea.
