Default Which charging strength - 50% or 100%?

I have a dedicated 240 volt outlet in my garage. I have been charging at the 100% setting on the control unit. Now I see that the blades on the charging cable plug are starting to corrode and lose their plating. I have to apply Super Lube to the blades just to insert and remove the plug. Does this only happen at the 100%?

That doesn't sound right at all. I would take your e-tron and charger to the dealership to have them check it out. The charging plug should be good for thousands of charge cycles without requiring any maintenance.

Sounds like you might be removing and re-inserting the plug a lot. With the rated amperage, it needs to be very tight to prevent overheating and potential fires, and a lot of such insertions/removals can be tedious and can wear down the prongs.

If you are indeed removing your EVSE often, consider getting a secondary one to leave permanently connected and keep the OEM one in the car.

All that I'd consider using is a dielectric grease like this or similar.

No petroleum-based lubricants.

Super Lube is dielectric.

I'm only recharging once a week.

Still wondering what the practical difference is between the 50% and 100% charge rate?

Uhh...you can charge twice as fast at 100%. That's not a trick question is it?

If you arrive at a RV park, and if there is a sign saying "don't draw more than 30 Amps or you will pop the breaker", then set to 50%. I've seen such a sign.

No, I don't do trick questions. The answer was posted above, thanks.

The energy wasted as heat throughout the circuit, both external and internal to the battery, is proportional to the square of the current intensity (amperage).

Twice the current = 4 times the energy loss and generated heat. That’s both less efficient and more dangerous, should you have subpar wiring. It may also impact the battery life to a greater extent than charging at a lower power (unclear if that’s material at the respective power level).

As long as you draw current above whatever threshold is required by the battery chemistry, a level which would also give you a full charge in a reasonable amount of time, the lower the amps the better.
