Default Write up for raxle replacement? (thought I saw it somewhere but now I can't find it...)

I found the outer CV boot A4 and A6 repair articles in the tech-section, but I thought I remembered an allroad specific raxle write up somewhere.. TIA -

Default Cool thanks. Also, I was reading on the Passat forum that you don't even have to

detach the ball joint for the driver side.

They said, on the Passat, you can just detach the inner flange where the axle connects to the transmission and then drop the axle enough to pull it out... There is probably no way the driver side is that easy on the ar, is it?

Default As I recall, one side WAS easier than the other...

a lot of the gems of info I gleaned from the comments at the bottom of that link. I never detached ANY ball joints OR pinch bolts. I did use a piece of soft wood to help persuade the outer cv joint into its pocket (which wasn't written by anyone), and after at least 2k miles of driving, never felt any adverse effects from doing that. It's been a while since I did it, but I wouldn't be afraid to tackle it again. Good luck, and sorry for the delay in posting.
