Why choose a 2013 Allroad over a Q5 ?
Been thinking - why choose a 2013 allroad over a Q5 2.0?
Pros for allroad: Looks better (design), sits lower (better driving dynamics), faster
Pros for the Q5: Bigger rear leg-room, bigger cargo space, about $2000 cheaper.
Plan to replace my Avant. Thanks.

"Am I a wagon person, or a crossover person, .....
...OR a SUV person, Or a Mini-van person?" Answer this question and purchase accordingly.
As for my wife and I, we are both die-hard wagon-lovers starting with our 1964 Plymouth Valiant Wagon years ago, proceeding through many wagons along the way. More recently a 98 A6 wagon we bought new and still have, and an 04 allroad that we love. So.. when time for a new ride, there was really no decision for us. -bought a new allroad three weeks ago and a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y love it. Unique, luxurious, great performance, and IT'S A WAGON!!
Confirmation: a year ago our local dealer gave us a Q5 loaner whilst one of our cars was in for service. We both decided we wouldn't want it even if free. --hard to say why; we're just Wagon people. -hope it helps.

I went from the Q5 (3.2 Premium Plus) to the 013 Allroad (2.0 Premium Plus)
The Q5 was definitely faster and peppier. And most all, of a way better quality and luxury built on the inside interior. At least in my opinion.
Cargo-space, in length (and to lesser degree width) I feel they do not differ too much, height obviously it does.
The Allroad sits on the road better, but the Q5 has always surprised me and it a very close match, and was incredibly fun to drive as well up and down the mountain roads.
Allroad has better MPG, but still quite disappointing compared to for instance my GF's BMW 3-series sedan with bigger engine, which also feels a bit sportier than the allroad (obviously is lighter too).
All in all, I am very very happy with the Allroad, and probably go wagon again over SUV on the next one.

So your argument points to the Q5 being a little better? So you like the allroad because it sits better on the road + MPG ? Is that what it is.

The 2.0T in the Q5 has more work to do than the same engine in the allroad. Unless you're opting for a larger engine (3.0T or 3.0TDI) the allroad is quicker on the road.
If you want a taller ride, and slightly better interior space, the Q5 is hard to beat.
The allroad is much more car like, and handles much better.

Have you driven one? I have one now, it's no joke. Yes, it's not an A6 allroad with the air suspension and big engine, but it doesn't need to be. for someone who doesn't want an SUV or crossover type thing, the a4 allroad is the way to go.
