Do you need to replace the whole fan or just the clutch? Remember that the clutch part is a reverse thread so you turn it right to get it off.

Personally, I'm going to be removing the clutch fan and replacing it with an electric fan. I'll probably go with this kit from JHM.

Just replacing the clutch looks to me as though the fan blades are still in good condition

Look over the fan blades closely. They tend to crack with age and can come apart sending pieces into your radiator and hood. If you are going to replace the clutch I would also look into replacing the fan blades as well.

Can't imagine how that misinformation (Elsa-Lose?) would help. No Audi clutch fan I've ever seen takes TWO 32mm wrenches...not a USA Allroad or my D2.

The clutch and fan are removed by an adjustable (or dedicated "fixed") pin wrench (which fits holes in the pulley to hold it in place) and ONE 32mm long flat wrench (made for viscous fans). The 32mm nut has reversed threads.

Bentley recommends removing the front end (bumper/lock carrier), but I've done this a couple of times by simply removing the inter-cooler tube on that side, to leave space to remove the clutch/fan.

If you have many miles at all on those fan blades, I'd change em...the all go bad eventually in AR's >>>
