What's the longest anyone's gone before replacing clutch?

I'm at 82,000 miles on a 2002. I hear that the clutch feels fine and then one day you're stranded on the side of the road. Is there a surefire method of checking clutch wear? I've tried the 6th gear acceleration on the highway test and it doesn't seem to over-rev.
Also, my indy shop is trying to convince me to do my timing belt/water pump. They recommend every 60k miles! My car is under an extended warranty for another 10 months, which should cover any damage should it fail. I know Audi originally advised a change at 105k, then lowered it to 90k if I remember correctly.

My 02...
133K on the original clutch and its holding. The take up is a bit different, but there is no slipping under power. You will not be stranded when your clutch wears. If you are in tune with you ride, you will know the feeling. Those that were stranded suffered a breakdown of their slave or master cylinder or somethign major internally.
As far as the TB, I went by the book at 105K. My ar was 4 years old at the time.
As most will tell you its not so much the belt you are concerned about, but the idler and tensioner bearings along with the waterpump itself. IMHO I'd wait untill your extended is up, but be 100% sure your extended (whose is it?) will cover such a repair. You are at 5 years and 82K miles.

I'm at 200,000km (125,000 miles) and no problems yet. Car is stock and I tow my boat (~3000lbs) 2-4 times a year for 100km.

Replaced it at 195,000.....
.....Clutch was fine but one of the spring teeth on pressure plate broke off and that was that. FWIW, had dealer do work after I talked them down to $2,900, just a little more than local Indy. Did not need new flywheel which can only be honed, not cut so I save big $ there.

I'm afraid I just joined CassablancaAvant in the 'it held stock power, but..." club. I just added GAIC Stage 3 minus software to get my K04's working proper and the clutch didn't last one day. Of course, I'm sure it was near the end of it's life, shorted somewhat by...me. Oops. My car's at 95K. I'm second owner and not sure if it's the origianl clutch, but I'd guess it...was. Now I'm desperately in the market for a new clutch. Anyone have one sitting around they're not going to use???
