Ugh - Accidentally topped off the brake fluid with DOT3
on the cap it calls for DOT4 fluid. Should I drain it all and go with DOT4 or will I be OK with the mixture?

Googled the problem: It's okay to mix 3 & 4. Never mix 3 or 4 with 5.
Another source also says it is okay: http://realbig.com/detomaso/1997-03/1.html
All things being equal I'd avoid mixing it but it sounds like you are okay.

Land Rover discussion (wish I had a better source).

Thoughts....things you can do with a turkey baster.
If you "topped it off" you only added perhaps and ounce or two. Its not in the system yet. If in doubt.. sleepless nights, tossing, worry, tenssion headaches and the knots in your stomache can be alleviated.
Buy the right fluid...then take a TURKEY BASTER.. large squeezable bulb and a tube?...ask your wife.. and suck up all but the last 1/2 inch of fluid in the resavoir. Don't empty it you don't want air near the intake even though none will enter being you are not pumping the brakes.
No add in the new fluid. :-)

You should not need to top off....
Your brake fluid will look low but in reality it is only filling the space in the calipers that low brakes create. You should have your brake fluid changed at 2 years regardless of mileage.

Thanks all! Gonna have Audi drain and replace the fuild
and your fuild level will fluctuate with the thickness of the pads and it can cause this problem (reportedly from an Audi mechanic). I looked in the engine bay for any leaks and there are none.
