Ok, here is the result of my problem.

My ambient air temp sensor fried, causing a fuse to fry which in turn temporarily killed my air suspension system, my climate control system, the neutral shift lock and power folding mirrors.

The local dealership quoted me $1,400 to replace the shift mechanism and that wasn't even the problem. My indie tech tracked down the problem and found the fried sensor. He called the local dealership to get a new sensor and they told him it was $300 for the part. My indie tech basically told the dealership where to go and ordered the same exact part online for less than half the price. That plus $66 labor and I got my car working 100% (± 10%)for under $217.05.

Now I still have to decide if I want to sell this car.

Damn. That's quite a chain of events. Was it the ambient air temp sensor for the dash display or was it for the engine (does the engine even have one?)?

Not sure what the difference is. I'm assuming it was the one for the dash.

Glad to know you got it sorted out. I knew the stealers was taking you for a ride when they told you all that bs. Good job by your Indie tech.
