The skinny on allroad windshield wiper, blades, inserts...

There are now a couple of aftermarket choices available for 02+ arms....
The point of all of the chatter about these arms is often retro fitting the 01 arms so you can accept a larger variety wipers. Much of the data in the archives covers a time when OEM was the only option.
So if you have an 02+ you can find wipers in the outside world now but not a ton of places have them
01 arms you can pretty much get a wiper at 7/11 if you needed to. Plus the compound and geometry choices are way deeper selection than the newer style. If you talk to anyone with newer blades and the discussion moves to winter... they will curse them.
the cost to change arms is about 90 to get 01's plus new blades.

Replaced wiper arms on my '04 with '01 arms...
and threw some Icons on them and have been very please since. Also put a 17" Icon on the rear arm and it's been great as well. Almost clears the whole back window! I think the cost to replace the front arms was just shy of $100, plus the Icons. It literally took me 10 minutes to do the swap.

4th, bought the 01 arms, the 04 blades froze up badly last year in Kirkwood Tahoe snowstorm
Had to get out every mile and pull the ice off without gloves
So did many other cars
The roads were so bad there was one set of tire tracks in the middle
zero vis
plows coming thru that dont stop
We also scratched up the hood near the wiper area
It was just accumulating and forming ice
I wrote a post about this a while back
