Default The skinny on allroad windshield wiper, blades, inserts...

MY2001 use older arms and aftermarket inserts are available. MY2002+ do not have replaceable inserts.

That much has been clear. What was mentioned here multiple times recently, is that 2002+ blades are OEM only. That is no longer the case. Bosch does make blades that will work on 2002+ arms. The Bosch Icon blades do not fit.

There may be other companies making aftermarket blades for 2002+, but I'm not sure. I know the Bosch blades do work, because they're currently on my car

Default Ok, so here's a question

Do the 2001 arms with Bosch Icon blades work just as good, or better, than the 2002+ arms and OEM blades?

Default ? is the mount on your 2002 the same mount as your 2001?

I'm referring to the hook or slide that allows the attachment of the BLADE to the ARM.

Default In my opinion, the 01 arms with any blades work better than the later blades.

The friggin things freeze up unless the defrost is on Full blast full heat, in a snow storm. Many of my customers complain about that style on BMW, MB, and VAG cars. They are OK in the summer, but I don't even bother switching back anymore. YMMV

Default I don't have a 2001

But a guy at the shop does, and the inserts work in his. By "MY2001" I meant "model year..."

The attachment of the blade to the arm is the same on both my 2002 (gone) and 2005.

If you want I can post pictures of my old blades and new.

Default We will see. I hope you're wrong just because I'll be driving through some nasty, freezing weather..

The kind where the washer tubes freeze (at least in my Subaru.) So hopefully the new Bosch blades do well.

Default This has been covered a billion times... The 02 models have the clippy center locks for

the wiper blade assembly... the 01 has the standard 180 bend on the end so you can use any wiper blade.

I just finally got around to doing the conversion on my 02 - why did I wait so long? Doh! I opted for 22" Bosch Icon blades assemblies and I throw a 17 micro edge on the back while I was at it. Yes I know it's oversized.

Default Re: I carry a bottle of windshield deicer and spray the wipers. The has helped prevent freezing.

Also make sure to lub the pin the wipers attach to as I have found this helps wiper movement

Default Well, when I posted a couple weeks ago, and all the search results I found said that...

2002+ can only use OEM blades. That's not the case.
