Rough Idle Until Warm: VAG scan Attached
As the title says. Car is balky and sputtery when first started cold, then after it warms up it runs fine. Doesn't do it 100% of the time because Audi. Only started once it got below -10C. Was (mostly) fine last winter.
Scan:
17695 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249)
P1287 - 35-00 - Open Circuit
17865 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 2 (G236)
P1457 - 35-00 - Open or Short to Plus
17861 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235)
P1453 - 35-00 - Open or Short to Plus
16487 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
P0103 - 35-10 - Signal too High - Intermittent
Readiness: 0110 1101
I've had the MAF and EGT codes for a long while and the car was running okay. The 17695 code is new. I checked to see if any vacuum lines were loose but couldn't see any.
And a question while we're at it: does an intermittent failure mean the part needs to be replaced (MAF)?
Any ideas? Thanks.
This is how I feel about my AR some days.

Poor idle is probably due to the MAF code and/or vacuum leak. Would make sense since it is a intermittent code.
Need to replace the EGT sensors as well. EGT fault will kill mpg and performance. I know! The sensor itself that is in the exhaust is probably fine. The problem is in the electronic box. You can cut and splice the wires easily without trying to replace the PITA sensors in the exhaust.

Passenger side was no problem to replace everything, but drivers was a total pain. Ended up just cutting the braided wires going to the sensor in the exhaust and solder splicing the two wires to the new sensor module. Been working great for almost 2 years know.

MAF failure: anyone had symptoms?
Just wondering...I've been getting a code for the MAF intermittent signal almost every time I run a scan. I guess this mean it's failed? I suppose I was looking for something more definitive lie "short to plus" or something like that.
I would love to hear from someone who's had this failure before. What were the symptoms? What did your VAG scan say?

go out and once the engine is up to temp, go do several wot runs with your vagcom hooked up and on the screen that measures the airflow that the maf is reading.
if its reading low, like 15 lb/min and lower, time for a new one
if its reading say 25-30, then your fine

That's what I was looking for, thanks. Where did you get the figures from?
