I do have an 01 ar but did get the 02 repair manual with it. The problem is that my wife got into manual mode and we aren't able to de-lock it, since it apparently changed with the 02 model year.

So I think there is a thread here which I can't find or maybe s.o. can give hint.
p.s. I did drive way over 100 mph for more than 10 minutes, but still the car never lowered from 2 to 1

Also would like to know how to get into manual in the first place./

Push and hold either up or down button for 5+ seconds will toggle in and out of manual mode.

holding down the "down" button for 5 seconds and see if the manual mode light goes off. (If that doesn't work, try the "up" button. If that doesn't work, try the manual.) HPH

Had the same problem, took the car into the dealership where after the Tech took a drive with me to prove that the problem existed they tried to "recalibrate" the suspension. I can't rememeber if they replaced the management unit. After the "recalibration", the car has behaved much better, although it now has to exceed 80mph before going down to level 1, or simply override to get it there faster.
