That is an amazing museum piece! No scratches on the lower front bumper either...
The best part about your car's configuration - normal (non-kermit) interior
Congratulations

Aside from what appears to be some wear of the belt, there really is no way to tell for sure. It's one of those things you just don't want to take a chance on. Other failed/failing rubber parts can stop the car from operating properly but can be repaired. If a timing belt goes, the valves will likely destroy the engine resulting in an ultra-expensive, complete overhaul (far more than a 12 year old allroad is worth). Think of it as living on borrowed time - it's not if but when the timing belt will go. If yours hasn't ever been changed, mileage aside, you're overdue after 12 years of aging. Not worth the risk to ignore.

OK. Scheduled a timing belt service. $1600, but that's toward the low end out here in the bay area, I think. Includes thermostat and water pump. I'll get the brake fluid flushed as well. What are your thoughts on transmission fluid? I've done it myself on an A4, it wasn't very hard, but wondering if there's any reason to do it due to time.
