my mpg is terrible

that's normal.. let's face it you will probably loose more in resale than
you will gain with the difference in more mpg.
I have a stick and day to day is still about 18MPG. All town on the weekend is 15ish and on the highway if I hold it at 65, I can get 25+.
with all respect you are living up to your name "morecarsthanbrains" if you bought the ar thinking you would get good MPG. :-)

You might have looked into this before buying and then selling an allroad due to MPG.
Obviously we don't own these cars for the fuel economy. No sense in going into the reasons we do own them.
I can go through so much fuel with mine now that I had to upgrade to a higher flow fuel pump! If I could sustain 28psi and watch the fuel gauge I probably could see it move.
Anyway, just enjoy the car. If you figure out how much depreciation you will eat when you sell it you might need some while to recoup the loss even if you get a more economic car.

Re: my mpg is terrible
no I knew that the mileage was low but I'm trying to figure out if there is something wrong with mine. The mileage seems really low and it really isn't that quick either. I have no cels or anything but it doesn't seem to be as quick as I thought it should be based on what I've read. What are some baseline numbers to compare to?
Oh and girlroad, my sisters v8, 4wd 4 door short bed F150 gets the same mileage. That's why I'm asking because something doesn't seem right. As for depreciation, not really since I owe what it is worth on trade in since it only has 32k miles on it. That's one of the reasons I bought it, well that and I really like them.

Leave your sister's 4WD engaged all the time, and then compare.
It's not really an apples-to-apples comparison because she has switchable 4WD, whereas you don't. She's also running a naturally-aspirated engine that's twice the size and probably cruises at half the RPM.
This summer I would average about 23 MPG highway with my '03 6-speed. Winter came along and it dropped to around 19. Expect it to be slightly less with an automatic. My mileage got better if I kept it below 55 MPH, but it irritates me to drive that slow.
Maybe someone in the previous 32K chipped it with a poor program, or it's stuck in valet mode...

16 /21is better than my stick. Find an AWD at close to 4,300 lbs and
I'll eat girlroads other hat. 16/21 is at the high end of respectable in the winter. The Ford weighs about the same and is rated at 15/19, but for me is less versatile. I guess you should have bought a pickup.
My stick doesn't quite make it to 20 mpg. I don't drive like a maniac, either.
