Default Mounting the Ski Box

It's snowing here in Denver and it's time to hit the slopes. Does anyone here mount thier skibox on the Audi bars? Debating weather to get the Audi bars or a set of Yakima bars. Thanks for your input.

God I am so not ready for it to be winter. We usually get Denver's weather a few days later, maybe it will go north/east instead and we'll be spared.

More likely we'll get ice instead......

Personally, I would opt for the Yakima or Thule bars as you can add attachments for your other toys...mtn bike, road bike, kayak etc. I have Yakima on the AR but have had Thule and both are excellent.

Can't you just put everything in the back. You have a wagon. I hate racks on top of cars. I remember once when I was a kid we took a trip and had a box on top for the first 100 miles the sound was awful then it flew off and all of our stuff was in the road. I took a oath to never have on on my car (lol)

I actually very much like the look of racks on ar's. We love our Thule rack system.

I also prefer the Yakima. You can use it to other vehicles you own- assuming they also have roof racks. The Yakima has more clearance compared to the audi's. Depending on what brand of ski box you have, more clearance might be needed. I had the sears brand and it was a PITA to install because of the long bolt atachments. I swithed to yakima skybox last year and now it's way easier to install that thing. The yakima rack is lockable, too.
Also, I think the audi OEM will NOT fit other racks(maybe vw???).

The Audi cross bar is made by Thule, it's just silver.

I use the Yakima racks and a Thule box. Works great! Having the extra room in the cab for my 3 x 100 pound dogs (2 German Shepherds and a Doberman Pincher), 2 Kids and Wife is critical.
Roof boxes FTW!

Rock skis, front side skis, back country skis, and deep POW skis! The ski box is a quiver. Hoping for 40 days this year. 6-12 more inches tonight in Denver. More feet in the mtns.
