Installation Recommendations for Dension IceLink
I am in San Francisco and wondering if anyone has any recommendations for installation of the IceLink. I would rather stay away from the dealer if possible.
Thanks.
Thanks.

how about 10 minutes of your own time?
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/63674/gadget1.1.jpg"></center><p>Its a simple plug and play. All you need are 4 radio keys to pull out the radio. They are on Ebay all the time for about 10 bucks. You can also go to Best Buy or Circut City and ask the the kid at installations (give him a $5.00) and he will pull the radio out just enough for you to complete the job yourself at home.
Pull out one plug from the radio, put it into the harness supplied with the Icelink, then put the other end of this harness into the same plug outlet in the radio, snake the Ipod cable that comes with the icelink, plug it into the harnes, put back your radio, turn it on, enter the DAFE code if needed, push the CD button twice and you are done.

Two issues....
One of which I do not have the key and want it done by the end of the week, and two I do not have the code for the radio so I am concerned that I may end up with a locked up stereo if I do it solo.

You probably do have the code...
Look in the spare tire well, you should find a computer printed label lots of numbers but it will have the 4 digits (large) of the safe code.
If not, go back to your selling dealer and ask them for it.. they were obligated to give it to you at the time of delivery. I would not have a dealer install and icelink as it is byond their normal scope of work and they will charge you an arm and a leg for it.
Even if you go to Best Buy for the install.. (they sell the Icelink), you will need the code as they won't do the job without it..just in case.

Well an independent installer isn't going to have your radio code either...
the dealer can get it and if you go to that trouble why not ask the dealer for it to begin with.
Once the radio learns the car (after initial install) you should not need the radio code. I have had my Symphony out at least 10 times with need for the code. This code is normally printed in the (seperate) radio users guide on a tear out card. look in your documents folder.
The radio keys are readily available and as paul suggested if you don't have access the kid at circuit city can hook you up.

Re: You probably do have the code...
Cool, I will look in the wheel well. I got the car about 3 weeks ago and the manual and the code in the manual is for a Concert, not Symphony.
If I can find the code I will take your advice and go over to Best Buy to have them pull the radio out and do the rest myself.

I pulled the radio fuse while hooking up the Icelink, and did not need the radio code when I replaced the fuse.
