Default Help.......since the search function is down I am hoping to get a few answers.......

The ar is surging under acceleration and is idling rough, coil pack? I scanned it and am having a misfire on cyl. 5. I bought a cp on the way home from a local Auto Zone as the dealer was way out of my way. Any way to know for sure that it is a coil pack on cyl. 5 before I change it out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default no. is the CEL flashing?

for the time it takes..just change it. If nothing changes put it back.
You can also check the spark plug to be sure it didn't fracture.

Default just changed CP on #5 cyl.......and it is still surging and idling rough.

Did I do something wrong. Cleared the codes and went for a quick spin. Same problems and when I got home, pulled the codes and got fault code 16684 and 16689 again.......any thoughts?

Switch you power output stages(on your air box)& see if the misfire follows itself to the #2cyl

Default Did you unplug the MAF and see if the symptoms are still the same? And perhaps drive around with

the VAG plugged in to capture some data; engine 01 - measuring blocks 15+16 (I think), see if the MF is "walking".

If you replaced the CP already, did you check for oil residue around the spark plug in the CP channel or seen any on the old CP? Just something else to watch out for.....remote troubleshooting is fun :-)
