Default First Audi Now love Audi but i hate Audi

I know Car's. upto say late 90's. and strictly speaking domestic cars. I had 1993 Mercedes E300 ..Never HAD ONE PROBLEM. I had a 95 Jetta which introduced me to the craziness of German engineering and oil cooler's. But it was a ratther gutless wonder. I've ran used car lots and owned my own used tire shop so i really really should of known better. never fall in love with a car. I'm on the come back side of a mid life remodel. So i don't have deep pockets nor am i well equipped with a shop and tools and what not. But i came across a sweet deal on a 2001 audi allroad. The main reason this car is so attractive to me is I'm paraplegic. There's not alot of sexy sport cars that are automatics, fast as ****, and handle great with enough room to throw my wheelchair and a few friends in. The Audi allroad is like the ultimate wheelchair friendly love to live life vehicle for the handicapper. I've owned a couplie of minivan's but generally drive jeeps and other Suv types. But i really really should have known better. I bought a 2001 Audi akllroad that ran and drove but knowing the damn car was something of a cursed vehicle for 1000 bucks. Cheap lessons can be the most expensive. When i say cursed i mean bad luck cursed .. .. but then some thing really strange happened .. I came accross a beautiful donor car i bought from a car lot for 995 bucks ... The car lot was so unfamiliar with audi that between the twin turbos and the still stock air suspension malfunctioning.. they made me sign paper work i wouldn't drive it .. which i was fine with .. But once i had it towed home .. damn the donor car is in way better shape overall then my original Audi.. wtf! ..lol ok so a basic tune up on these audi's is almost as complicated as a major overhaul on a domestic car. The only truly broken piece is the tranny is going out.

Advice and or help please ..

1. Why would the obd II not communicate at all? The donor car run's stronger then my original one which is in need of tuning. But the tranny is in safe mode, abs light is on.. the break light continues flashing..it's gotten hot twice on me but it is a smoken hot summer. ..

2. i have a replacement tranny .. i believe i have all; the right tools but i am doing it on 4 car jacks and takings it out from below.

Basicly the donor car is bow the car i'm trying to get back to good which i'm hoping is just a tranny swap and some aiir suspension repairs ... But the computer not talking to my scanner scares me a little bit... I don't have the equipment to pull the subframe engine and tyranny both out the front

Default OBD II Scanner

Welcome to Audi World! Sounds like you have jumped in with both feet, congrats on that! I would suggest that if your scanner is not coming up with any results, you might consider either borrowing someone else's scanner or renting a more sophisticated scanner that can really show you what's going on. I use a basic scanner that helps me make quick decisions on whether I have a serious problem or not, then I take the car to my trusty independent specialist if there is a real problem.
I am amazed that you want to change out the transmission yourself when you say you are physically challenged, Good luck and well done on finding a donor car that exceeds your original!
