Default Favorite Timing Belt Kit?

I've decided to purchase the Allroad I posted about in another thread. As such I need to do the timing belt ASAP. I've previously done the timing belt on my 2000 A4 1.8t, so I know what I'm getting in to and this time I even have a friend gung-ho to help me!

I bought the kit for my A4 from Blauparts.com and was quite happy with the quality and contents. Unless the collective wisdom thinks there is a better kit to get(?) I will be ordering it through them again.

I also believe I need to replace the headlight and rear window washer pumps, which I will be doing at the same time since I will have the front bumper off. Is there anything else I should consider replacing while I'm in there doing the timing belt and water pump?

thanks!

I see the belt kit for the 4.2 v8 is only a little more. Is the labor any more intensive on a v8 than the 2.7t?

Also, how many actually have replaced their belts at the 105k? I see many replacing them at 70k or so, but that is 1/3 of the belts supposed life early.

I am assuming these are interference motors, hence the preemptive replacement. A belt and water pump jobby is a lot less than 30- 40 valves and all that evil stuff.

I have pretty much settled on an allroad. I drove one the other day a 2.7t and I really liked it. I will have to study the hitch posts too as I will tow with my allroad if I go that route. I am undecided between v8 and turbo 6.

Many of the allroads I find are 60-80k miles wise, and unless the parts have been changed already, then the t belt is a thing I need to consider.

thanks all! ended up going with Blauparts again, and rented the tool kit. Any recommendations on a snub mount or are they all basically the same?

Our kits have been around for years and are pretty rock solid.

The V8 does not have a belt

To be more specific, the V8 motors have timing chains at the rear of the motor (when looking from the front). They are incredibly labor intensive to replace, but also don't fail nearly as often.

To the OP - if you still need some bits, we have snub mounts and headlight washer pumps (click me) for you. In terms of recommendations, are you plan on aggressively modding your 2.7t?

Thanks, I don't know where I thought I saw the 4.2 belts.

The fact that the 4.2 has no turbos to fail, and no timing belt , and instead a cahin has me seriously favoring a 4.2 model.
