Fair price - 2002 AR MT?
I've been searching for quite awhile to find a MT AR in Atlas Grey / cold-weather package that I can buy & start "improving." Autotrader and all the main search engines drew a blank, so I resorted to searching Craigslist in multiple "cold" cities and found an '02. 74k miles, pics look pretty clean. KBB Private Party is stating $9,500 - $10,500 (depending on "good" or "excellent" condition.) The guy is asking $15,900 which seems way out of range. Just curious as to a fair price (even if above KBB given how specific the car is I'm looking for.)
Also, besides the air bags, any other '02 MT common problems? Electrical / power train / etc? Any advice would be appreciated.

To put it into perspective... I got 2001 AT MT with 130k for 6.25k... I also had another seller lined up with the same mileage but 2002 for the exact same amount except that he came back to me with "yes" day after I got the 2001.
Hope this helps.

I wouldn't pay that much not no way, not no how.
Someone found an 05 MT with 53K at a dealer for asking $20K. Auction price for the same 05 is $18K.
$16K for an 02 is so far from reality.

70k should be ok from maintenance point of view.
My 130k got hit with several issues about 3k after I bought the car, the usual problems with ARs like secondary air pump, leak in secondary pump, diverter valves, one cat going out (getting piggies) etc. I also blew a turbo after chipping the car but that's self inflicted and not expected on normal non-chipped ARs (getting k04 turbos hehe).
The blowing up of the turbo is almost a blessing since now I have to upgrade them to what I wanted to begin with, eg. RS4 turbos.
Other than that the car is perfect especially inside. Mine had close to zero wear and tear, amazingly.

I also think $15.9K is off the market, but I guess prices can vary regionally. It's going to be more popular and expensive in a state that gets more snow and so on.....what state was the car in that you found?

Idaho. Ideally, I'd rather pay $14k-$16k for an '04 - '05 MT, but it's a tight market given the limited numbers of those that were manufactured. I'm in a lease ('07 A4 Cab) thru March so there's no urgency. But if I find the right one at the right price, I'll pounce. Thanks!

Why are you leaning towards an '04/'05? The early yrs had more
options before Audi decide to start stipping down amenities.

I got my 04 allroad 6 speed with 58,000 miles and almost every option (including factory hitch and nav) in super clean condition, all service records, all recalls done, clean carfax, every original bolt and washer in place for just under $18,000 (and I thought I overpaid a little, but I really wanted the 6 spd and factory hitch). I think $15,9000 is way too much for an '02 with 74k...
