So I moved to South Africa, got a nice used 2016 Allroad (A4) and can't get the damn hitch off. I even read the manual (wha what?) - no luck. Anyone have experience with this OEM towing packing for EU? Bonus points for a video!

I've had two Allroads (A6) with hitches. What type of hitch? Is it a Westfalia or similar? You wish to remove the ball and arm that comes out of the hidden vertical receiver? I believe you need a key to release the ballmount.

Yes, I want to remove the ball-shaft and store in the back storage under the deck.

Bosal or Wesfalia brand? I think you need the key for either. Do you have a key? I had a Bosal that developed a corroded part in the release system that made it difficult to remove using the directions. If you have the key and can't turn the lever for release, or turning the lever does not result in a release, try soaking the entire assembly repeatedlhy in something like PB Blaster or Kroil. Repeated spraying might get the penetrating oil to the sticky part.
