Sounds like a good modification...
I will probably remove the #1-#8 wire bridge when I move back to Denver, but install the fuse block bridge so I at least have the option to run fogs only.

Whoa there cowboy...not so fast. Please advise how to:
1) Remove the headlight switch
2) How to identify terminals #1 and #8.
I got me some DRL wiring to do by the weekend!
thanks

Each wire coming to the light switch is of different color so you should have any problems locating the wires by their color! I hope you are not color blind

I did the whole fog-to-main power bridge myself about 3 months ago but used a fuse on the bridge. You have to use a fuse since otherwise you are risking electrical damage since the car's fog lights fuse is BEFORE (looking from power supply perspective) the bridge you are putting in here.
In other words, even a stupid short in you lightbulb can cause your switch or other components to fry since there is no fuse protecting them from it. This would be a rather expensive accident easily preventable by cheapo fuse holder.

RIGHT!
Job done just temporarily to pass the inspection. To clarify:
1) I bridged wire 1 and wire 8.
2) Front fogs come on when I switch n the ignition.
3) Rear fog does not come on.
4) Front fogs can not be switched off.
I just stuffed a wire into the back of the two terminals and taped it all down since my objective is *only* to pass inspection tomorrow afternoon.
I will undo the hack tomorrow right after I pick up the car from inspection and I will revisit the project later, depending on what I want to do. I am leaning toward the fuse box mod which will allow me to switch on the fogs without having to run the headlights. I always run with lights on during the day, but I don't want to burn up my xenons and I want the option of going all dark like when I don't want the wife to know I'm rolling in late, or if I'm hiding from the cops (j/k)
Lastly....I am not colour blind, but nowhere in this thread are the colours for wire 1 and wire 8 described...so let me describe them here for posterity.
Wire 1 is yellow/black and is on the far end of the bottom row of wires.
Wire 8 is yellow/white and is one in from the other end of the bottom row of wires.
Thanks for the good quality tips guys!

Sounds like a successful hack there . Just make sure you put that fuse hodler in there ASAP. There is plenty of space behind the switch, so long the wires are fairly long you should have absolutely no problem installing/removing the switch as you need.

What I would like to do ideally is:
1) Have the fromt fogs and the tail lights come on automatically with the ignition.
2) Fuses in place.
3) Install a toggle to turn off the fogs and tail lights.
4) Have the light switch work normally in all cases.
So then the obvious question is, which of the wires (if any) runs the tail lights?
Car is being inspected as we speak by the way. I'll be allroading by the afternoon.
By the way...if I'm not mistaken, "Allroad" translated to French is "Tous le Rue" which sounds funny when you say it.
cheers
