Default Disabling rear parking sensor

I have a 2004 2.7. I am having a rear hitch installed to transport bikes I am curious how I can disable the rear parking sensors which will be in the way every time I reverse.

Is this an option? A fuse??

Thanks

Easiest is to buy the 13 pin trailer plug and stick it in the socket when you using the hitch. There is a switch inside the car socket that is activated when a plug is inserted, and turns off the parking sensors.

Other option I have thought of before is you could figure out which wires are part of the switch inside the car socket, and wire a toggle switch to them that is mounted inside the car.

There probably is a fuse, but to me it is much easier to simply stick the trailer plug in to the socket when I need it, then to open a fuse panel and pull/reinstall a fuse frequently.

Justin is the man when it comes to hitches. How are you going to wire the pigtail? There is coding for the Parking Control Module for "with trailer hitch". It will disable the parking aid when you plug into pigtail.

His 04 should already be wired for towing so he won't need to mess with anything in the coding. I second the suggestion by Justin to just plug in the trailer plug. Much easier than constantly pulling a fuse.
