a/c getting warmer at idle
At almost 1000 miles after I got my AR, I noticed that the ac gets warmer during idle. As soon as I gas up,it gets colder. I have no complaints(oh ya..it gets toooo cold some times)when driving the car. The ac works great when the car is in motion. Any inputs?

check to see where your idle is at on the tach. it should be at 900+ rpm with a/c on. also check the tension and condition of the serpentine belt that powers the a/c. could be a touch loose and slipping on the pulley.

compresor on the chain? I don't think so. Don't confuse the serpentine-accessory belt with the timing chain.
Imagine the damage to you motor if the A/C compressor froze and the chain jumped.

Ah, I thought I read somewhere that one of the differences with the 4.2 was that the AC compressor was on the chain.
Wait, I did - http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/st...1865704&EDATE=
"The rear chain of the allroad quattro 4.2-liter V8 drives the water pump,
oil pump, hydraulic pump and air-conditioning compressor."

The 4.2 has a chain drive system on the back of the engine which drives the oil pump, AC, and some other accessories. Mine has been in the shop for over a month getting the drive system replaced since a gasket on the AC drive shaft leaked and caused the AC drive shft splines to corrode and then strip. They had to pull the engine, tranny and about a million other pieces. About $200 in parts and $4000 in labor.

Check engine temperature while it's warming up. If the temperature keeps rising on Idle or at stops, One of the electric fan is not working. I have similar problem and haven't fixed it yet because getting to the inside fan is not easy.
If that not the case, you may have a bad temp. sensor. I'll check the computer to see if any codes comes out first.
Let us know what you find, and if you fixed do let us know how.
Thanks
