Hey all - I'm pretty sure that my compressor just bit the dust. Was running quite often on take off and intermittently thereafter. Had a long thread on the board months ago about it. Some people said it was normal, some said otherwise. I knew it wasnt normal but, alas, didnt do anything about it.

Warning light came on the other day and I paid special attention to whether I heard the running noise anymore. I dont.

So, two questions:

1. How long can I go with a bad compressor? I've activated the manual mode so it wont lower/raise by itself. I've already put about $3K into this damn system (prior compressor, valve block, 2 bags) - not looking forward to another $1k right now.

2. Anyone know of where I can get a new/refurb compressor for a decent price? I havent looked around yet.

I read somewhere that the compressors were poor because the fittings were broken etc. Not true?

nah in my case the piston and cylinder were shot.

Follow up question:

If I get the Vag-Com kit (which I should anyway), will that be able to differentiate a problem w/ the compressor vs. the control unit vs. the sensors, etc .... ?
