allroad oil change
I just got my self 04 Audi Allroad
it's about time for an oil change and I'm wondering what should i go with
what are the recommendations with about 62000k miles on the dash
and does any one know any good Indy Audi shop in Brooklyn area thinking about timing belt change

oil filter, get an oem one
oil itself, get high quality synthetic either Mobil 1, castol, Valvoline, and if you can find it locally, lubro moly is really good stuff too
here in Colorado napa sells lubro moly
its about the same price as the other brands

The most popular choice is Mobil 1 0w40 and Castrol Syntec (Made in Germany) 0w30. Do not use other weights of these as they differ by much more than just the weight.

The owner's manual recommends 0W-30, and if that is not
available, it says you can use 5W-30 or 5W-40. The list below is for all Audi engines from 1997 - 2010. It also says to consult your owner's manual for the appropriate oil for each Audi vehicle. I was going to use the Mobil 1 0W-40, since that was the popular recommendation on QW, but had second thoughts since that weight isn't listed in the owner's manual. I ended up going with Valvoline syn power mst since it was the only oil I could find locally that I could get in sufficient quantity, and that was specifically listed in that big list, and in the weight recommended in the manual. *whew*

Caution: oil opinion not in sync with the forum...
Get some ramps! Cheap and easy. Combined with suspension on level 4, they give you pretty good room to work.
The 2.7t is an easy oil change once you figure out the lower engine covers, and I wouldn't trust an oil change place with those babies. Too many little 1/4-turn fasteners for them to lose, and expensive to replace the covers if they come off on the way home from the oil change (for instance). An Audi-literate shop would be safer than an oil change place for sure if you don't want to do it yourself.
While you're at it, it's a good idea to inventory the fasteners and replace the missing ones. VW and Audi dealers both stock most of them.
There are holes in the covers for two big short bolts that go into the lock carrier. I put them in there gently with some loc-tite just for GP.
Oil-wise, I like the Rotella synthetic 5-40 (blue jug). Not on the list, but it's good stuff, relatively cheap and widely available. Maybe with the new T6 they'll get it tested for the VW spec. I've been using it in wet-clutch motorcycles for years, and they finally put that application on the label this year. Cruise over to bobistheoilguy.com and read up on it if you're interested. I don't know all about PAOs and groups, but from what I understand, it's good stuff, particularly for hot (turbo) applications.
