acceleration hesitation

Sounds like typical tiptronic hesitation. I bet that if you release the brake pedal while keeping hand brake on so you don't roll, then you don't have problems accelerating at all (release he brake the moment you hit gas pedal of course).

its definitely not turbo lag. a friend of mine has an '05 t-reg with the 4.2 and has the same problem. he brought it to get checked out and since it's under warranty, the dealer is replacing the throttle body. says there's an issue with relaying the signal from the there to the transmission. it sounds computer/electronic to me, so i don't know what replacing the throttle body will do.
i did the e-brake trick when i had my '80 scirocco. i've moved on since then don't expect to do things like that in this much newer, nicer car.
