My parents bought the very first model year of 5000 CD, 1984. It was FWD, and they bought it in 1994. It was our first Audi. It had the 2144 cc turbo engine and an interior that was worlds above anything current (at the time) domestic or Japanese. So we fell in love with Audis.

That car had its own share of problems, it was practically a lemon that my father kept alive until 2002, when it was hit and written off. From blower motor, to heater core, to failed tranny, that car developed every ailment that still plague Audis to this day, just not in the same car (usually).

The engine overheated several times, and yet did not die.

I had several Audis myself, but the Allroad reminds me of the 5000 the most. Turbo engine, and lots of parts that could and will fail.

Why do i still have an Audi? Same reason as you and many others. It has what the French call "je ne sais quoi". Of course they refer to their women

"AM" not sure how that got into my subject area.

guys the drive back from Montreal to Ottawa was great. Car is smooth in ever aspect!! usual wear and tear but nothing mechanical. The car has 126k km/78k miles on it. I bought it for just under 10k!! The car had safety done yesterday and the mechanic came back and said it had one problem with it ... one of the license plate lights was out. I pick her up after work :-)

Nice that the only thing they found was the plate light. I see that you're not new to Audi's but read up on all the quirks that come with the allroad. Both good and bad. :-)

Would anyone know where I could get a license place holder for the front? This car was from the Province of quebec and they don't use front license plates.

I will have to find all that info within the site, all the Audis I've own have there problem areas. I did buy a 2yr/40km 1k drivetrain warranty for the allroad. Even though I like wrenching on cars, I didn’t want to have a trans or turbo problem.

This is my fourth Audi, I still have the 93V8 97A8 

PS If you click on MY GARAGE you can see a few pics of the car

cheers superdave
