02 Allroad front axles needed...any ideas on deals
Hey guys,
Just got under the car today and both front outer cv joints are going(both boots torn open). I would like to just get both axles w/ joints and boots intact for an easier install, but if I have to, I'll take the outer joints w/ boots. Does anyone have a site w/ good pricing? If I have too, I'll take a used set...cheaper route. I have an auto, 02 Allroad. Thanks.
Mike

raxles or americancvstore.com
both have great prices and have been used by AW members with success.
Raxles are $200 each and American Cv's are $80 each.
Raxles are:
+Refurbished but new Joints
+New *European* outer and inner joints
+Amsoil synthetic grease
+Include tools and torque specs
American Cv's are:
+All new everything
+*Chinese* outer and inner joints
+Unknown grease and no tools.
I just did mine and used Raxles... They even give you a pretty cool pocket knife too!

Skip used, don't just rebuild or re-boot the outer joint. Same time invested to replace
and then you don't worry that the inner will fail soon after you rebuilt or rebooted the outer joint only. Avoid doing the job twice. I have known one who tried a cheapo axle with good results, and I used Raxles on the S6 last year and even my mechanic was impressed. No point to a used one at that price. Shokan seems so high to me when I have tried them on pricing. Maybe it's good for those not in the know, but not for AW members like you seeking axles.

I used this and the search function. went pretty smooth...
It's easy... to make room all you have to do is pull the inner bolt on the rear-lower control arm...

read all the comments too. They are helpful.
