I updated the firmware to the latest version (2020.08.04.1602) today and so far it seems to have fixed the audio problem! I actually drove to my office for the first time in 4 1/2 months today and I didn't have a single audio problem in about 40 mins of driving (20 mins each way). With the previous firmware (2020.07.17.1459) I would start to get crackles etc after about 4-5 mins of using it. Although I could usually resolve the problem for about 5 mins by pausing the audio source for a few seconds, it was really annoying. Glad I won't have to keep doing that.

Good news. I haven’t driven enough with it to observe any crackles, but it is encouraging to hear the manufacturer is working to address problems. Any other changes you noticed? Do they publish a change log anywhere?

Mine has been very good so far. No pops and crackles from Spotify. Also, phone calls now seem to have zero delay. Very encouraging.

Same here. 5 trips after updating and all have been perfect. Hope this is it! I was about to give up.

Strange stuff. Having seen all these good reviews, I updated. First to 2020.07.01.1234, and then to 2020.07.17.1459. After that it said I was current. First time out, this morning, I had all kinds of crackling. Pause/Play helped for just a couple seconds. I also switched audio sources for a minute and went back to CarPlay, and the crackling soon returned. My iPhone 11 Pro, running the current version of iOS 14, was in my pocket the entire time and the Carlinkit adapter was plugged in under the armrest.

Joke's on me for violating one of my own golden rules: Never update firmware if nothing new and material is being added, and the device is otherwise working fine. All was fine, but I upgraded anyway. I'll do a hard reboot on the phone and see if that makes any difference, but for now I give this FW update a thumbs down.

So the two July updates didn’t really fix the issues. Try to refresh a couple times to get the august update. The company is also pretty responsive to emails and I think they should send you the update if you can’t get it to update by itself

iOS14 is still in beta. I probably wouldn’t do that yet.

Thanks. I hadn’t paid enough attention to realize I needed to get to the August update. Went back out tonight and installed that one, and in a very short sample, it seemed all good again.

Fair, but someone earlier in the thread vetted it on iOS 14, and then I did as well. It isn’t an iOS thing, I think it was just some bugs that needed fixing via device firmware.
