Does the powered close feature stop if it detects resistance? Is it supposed to? My wife who is a small lady was reaching into the trunk today and her foot must have triggered the auto close and she almost got crushed by the trunk lid.

Yes. I've manually stopped it on purpose before. Just like the power windows, if it detects too much resistance it stops or reverses. It's not going to actually crush anyone to death.

It should auto reverse, it may not crush you but it will definitely give you a nasty bump on the back of your head!
