Default Seatbelt presenter

My 2021 S5 coupe has seatbelt presenters that move the seatbelt forward to make it easier to grab. Mine haven’t been working. The service manager tells me my seat has to be further back in order for them to work. They do work if my seat is all the way back and all the way down. Is that the way it has to be or is it malfunctioning?

thanks in advance.

It's to do with the height of your seat. Lower the height and they will work. It's meant to function like that so they don't hit the side bolster if your seat is too high.

doesn't make sense that they'd only work if the seat is all the way back. Seems that they become more useful the further forward a seat is, not backwards. No idea about the height...

Hanks for input. I found out that they only work when the seat is down and back. Totally the opposite of when they are needed. Audi should just forget them or engineer hem better. Total fail

It can seem counter intuitive, but they aren't actually long enough to present the seatbelt if your seat is far forward. I believe the issue they are trying to address is that if your seat is back and the B-pillar is just slightly behind your seat, then you don't really have room the bend your arm to reach back, and so it presents the seat belt in front of the side bolsters. If your seat is far enough forward, you can get your elbow around the side of the seat and reach back. Or more specifically somebody sitting farther back naturally has longer arms, so it is more difficult to bend those Gibbon's limbs in tight quarters to get around the seat. Those who sit further forward have shorter more nimbler arms to get around the seat.

After 3+ years with mine I find them to be very useful especially after enabling the comfort seating via the OBDEleven.

Mine work 0% of the time if I forget to let go of the buckle before it retracts completely.
Seat position has nothing to do with it, IMHO.
The buckle itself must be LOWER than the extending arm for mine to work.
I got into the habit of manually retracting the seatbelts because in my prior cars, the spring would pull them back into position so forcefully they would start making marks on the B-Pillar trim.
I have had to now get used to the fact that I'm just going to have marks on my b-pillar over time because I can't reach that far behind me to grab them manually.

YMMV

If you can, try setting up "easy seat entry" if you can. Find someone with an OBD11 to code it for you. Makes the whole getting in and grabbing the seat belt easier.

Well sometimes I get just impatient and grab the seatbelt early or before it completes the presenting.
