I pulled the fuse to disable the soundkator. It sounded terrible imo. I had the same rattling sound too. I am not interested in doing the OBD11 recalibration so I did it the old fashion way. The car is a bit to quiet at times now, but would rather that than the fake sound anyhow.

I've noticed the rattle/buzz of the soundaktor seems to be temperature dependent. When it's above 40 for me it sounds normal like when I first got the car.

With settings below, I mostly drive Individual-S. When I want sportier, I go from Individual-S to Dynamic-S. When I cruise highways, I go from Individual-S to Individual-D. I never select the Comfort mode. My SoundAktor is permanently turned off via OBDEleven.

@garberfc did you have this issue too? Did it sound like a baseball card in bicycle spokes and only happen when at 2k-4k RPMs?

No, there was no rattle from the soundaktor. In fact the device sounds very realistic. I had a MY2019 S5 before my current car and I didn't realize the sound was being created until I read about it on this forum.

It's interesting that Audi sound insulates the car and then goes and pumps in fake engine sounds. I guess they figure that if there's going to be noise in the cabin it's going to be covered up with "engine" sound.

Plus, Audi could have saved a bunch of money not putting the two Resonators on the car, this would have allowed them to get rid of the Soundkator, more money saved. Audi at times seem to lack business smarts. Add a Resonator to make the car quiet, and then add a Soundakator to make the car louder, kinda dumb huh?

The resonators are eliminating certain frequencies and also reducing exterior noise. Modern car manufacturers want to eliminate road and wind noise, as they are deemed unpleasant, so they insulate the car. However, people still want to hear the engine so they do things like the soundaktor. But they also engineer the engine noise that we hear so annoying or unpleasant frequencies are eliminated or reduced as much as possible.
