Haven't found anything via searches. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Car starts as expected, but I can't unlock the doors with the fob in my pocket OR by pressing the unlock button. I had to kill the remote start via the app and only then could I open the door. Merry Christmas!!

1st — Whose Remote start (brand) are you using?

2nd — What year & model car are you discussing?

IF you are using a Compustar / Drone, older revisions would not allow you to unlock the car, when remote started, with just touching the doors. I’m not sure if using the fob key was supported or not.
