Real MPG Numbers?

Realistically its around 380-390 miles, i do find it annoying it will always start overly optimistic then it will drop significantly, then back to a more accurate reading by mid tank. Am i the only one that feels this way?
Anyways back on topic, City+Hwy driving im consistently getting 24-26mpg, if mostly hwy ive reached 28-32mpg and if only city 18-20mpg. The car is quite good in consumption the problem is the insane small gas tank.
If you care about MPG then don't buy an S5, easy. It gets terrible gas mileage and has a gas tank that is too small to boot.
When I fill up the Virtual Cockpit says I have 430 miles of range, that's more than or nearly the same as a Tesla Model S, so that's not so bad by comparison.

I’m not sue what “bad” mileage is considered to be these days, but I’m fine with an average of 26.3 mpg over 21K miles on my S5. I think that’s good.
It’s not a grandma car and I bet none of us drive it like that.
(exception - at 84 my mother test drove a Trans Am. That was the car she wanted).

The S5 does not have "terrible" mileage, I get about the same as my old 2010 A4. That did not have "terrible" mileage either. Also it's highly dependent on how fast you accelerate, if you really care about the mileage you can drive like a grandma and you'll get comparable mileage to a much cheaper and smaller engine car, while enjoying the great interior and you'll have the option of booting it when you want to.

As my father used to say "gas is the cheapest part of owning a car". Of course gas was < $1.00 / gal back then. I just enjoy driving the car in the spirit it was designed for and only consider the gas mileage when I'm about to run out of gas! 🤪😝🤑

I typically get about 11-13, but I drive like an idiot.
When I’m being slightly less idiotic, or if I’m tired, normal varied driving yields a pretty consistent 20-21.
If I put it in cruise control at 70 for my 86 mile round trip to work, I get about 23-26 depending on traffic, but there are two moderate “mountain passes” (aka big windy hills) each way.
My all time record high was 32.1 going to Vegas from Los angeles in cruise at 70mph.
All time record low was 4.5 romping up Angeles Crest to Mt Wilson. But that’s WOT up an [actual] mountain.

As others have said, it's highly dependent on your driving style, traffic, and the types of roads you encounter during your commute. The mileage of my S5 is very close to that of my B8 A4, so I'll take that as a win. Back when I commuted to work, I averaged around 22 mpg. After being locked down for the past several months and driving very little while working from home, my mileage is around 18 - 19 mpg. However, I drive so little that I only need to fill up every two months or so and mileage is the least of my concerns.
I had a B9 A4 as a loaner a few months ago and that car's mileage was outstanding. I received something like 28 mpg on the route that yields 22 mpg in my S5.

Guys, the readout on the computer of this car is straight up wrong, the distance on the empty is always wrong.
Anyone getting more than 20mpg does not drive their car like I do haha. But I do have a pretty city heavy commute.

The S5 seems to get pretty poor MPG until the engine gets fully up to temp. This is the case with a lot of cars but it seems especially pronounced with the 3.0T for some reason. Long highway cruising I can easily pull high 20s but for short trips around town it is in the high teens.
