You will need to tap into the door modules, provided they can cable. There are atleast 2 variants of the door modules and your car might be fitted with the lower variant and not have the light outputs.

I was hoping that someone could share a photo where the cable from the puddle light leads into the module, would save a lot of trouble. I assume for this no need any coding, worse case I am going to check the module pins with multimeter one by one with open and closed door as well.
I will check which module they mounted in my car.

Does anyone have a link to where we can purchase the connector harness with the red LED door light? I see a few on Aliexpress, not sure which would work, but would prefer to buy where others have purchased without any issues.

so when you open the door you don’t have any puddle lights ?

if that is the case I do not know how you would fish a power line to make this work

@murphy27 - Before you try adding puddle/door lights please confirm that you already have openings in the base and end of the doros for the lights else you might not like having to cut new openings in the door.

Inspired by this thread, I bought third-party puddle gecko and four rings puddle light from UK, as it is not available in Japan. Install was quite easy as shown in the first post of this thread. The edge of the light seems not sharp compared with genuine four rings puddle light, but its a fun.

@Kerrun — See post 3 in this thread. If the back of the housing has a large, aluminum heat sink, you probably have the genuine Audi Gecko puddle lights. If there isn’t a large aluminum heat sink it’s probably a knock-off.

Forget to put a comparison photo. As @Nikon1 mentioned, my purchased one has a smaller heat sink compared with genuine (right)
