Default Please Compare the 2018 Cabriolet with the Previous Model

For those of you that had the 2010 - 2017 Cabriolet and are now driving the 2018 Cabriolet please comment on your likes, dislikes, impressions between the two models. I had a 2010 and am currently driving a 2011. I only have 24,000 miles on the 2011 and am trying to discover whether the the Virtual Cockpit and/or the turbocharged V6 is enough to make me "upgrade". All comments and opinions are welcome. Thanks!

OK, now 100 views and no responses. Is Audi really selling so few Cabriolets?

The Cabriolet hasn't been out that long and based on the posts here, most are going with the SB. I purchased my S5 cab last week. For me the improved ride, seats and tech were worth me trading in my 16 coupe. Go check one out and take it for a drive.

I only owned '10 and '11 S5 Cabriolets, but I needed the utility of a sedan so I haven't considered the new model. Sorry there were so few responses, but very few Cabriolets are sold. Especially Gen 1 owners moving to Gen 2 models.

Yup, that's why there isn't going to be a RS5 cabriolet. It sells very poorly.

I just purchased a new A5 cab and the difference between it and the 2015 cab I had is night and day. The new model is so much smoother and way quicker. I purchased a premium plus in matador red along withe the navigation and luxury package. I love the ventilated seats, so good on a hot day with the top down. The handling around corners and the acceleration thru the corners is fantastic and so much fun. I also have received so many comments at how beautiful the car is, it's a real head turner. Couldn't be happier with the upgrade over my previous cab. The virtual cockpit is so clear and a great conversation piece whenever my wife or I have passengers.

As previously posted:

Have driven (and ordered) the S5 Cabriolet. It is excellent - for me, the improvements of the B9 over the B8 model change are even more obvious with the cab version. The stiffer chassis is very noticeable.

It has the shorter wheelbase of the S5 Coupé rather than the Sportback (which is the same as the S4), which I prefer as it gives it a bit more agility. They have judged the ride (on adaptive suspension, at least) really well. It is a little softer than the Coupé and Sportback, but handles extremely well in Dynamic mode, and is very compliant (and quiet) in Comfort. It is the best cabriolet I have driven, and I'm not normally a fan (my wife likes them).
In terms of downsides, I prefer the feel (and sound) of the supercharged engine/S tronic transmission in the B8 (which I still have). Although the additional torque of the new turbocharged engine is particularly noticeable, and appreciated, in the heavier cabriolet body.

Everything else in the B9 is better: feels lighter, is more responsive and agile, is more refined, steers better, handles better, brakes better...

FWIW, I took a 2018 S5 cab out for a pretty long test drive. When I got back into my '13, I felt the two were very similar. Although the tech on the new S5 is way ahead of the '13, with the top down in normal day to day driving the difference was minimal. May be more a testament to how great the cars are overall, but considering my '13 is paid for, I couldn't justify moving up to the '18.

I have a 2013 a5 cab and am currently waiting for my s5 cab to come in. I regretted not getting an s5 and not getting vent seats so that along with all the new technologies were good enough reasons to upgrade.

Default 2010 S5 CAB Prestige + vs 2018 S5 CAB Technik

Hi all, I sold my 2010 silver pearl and leased a 2018 Daytona grey pearl.

It's been 2 months now and 2,000 miles for my American friends.

I am preparing an inside/out - front to rear full review for the Fall.

All I can say for now is that I would trade the 8 speed automatic Turbo for my beloved S-tronic supercharge double-clutch.

Tune in September.
