No 2020 RS5s?
A user on the ACNA - Nationl FB page posted their dealer informed them that there will be no 2020 RS5s. The comments have a jumble of information so who knows. Maybe a late release due to the refresh? Thought I'd pass it along for discussion.

Call me crazy but based on the last two years release schedule I've been thinking for a while now that they will skip all A5 2020s variants. MY2018 were released in the US in spring 2017. Then 18 months later, MY2019 were released around December 2018. Now fast forward another 18 months and the timing is perfect for MY2021 to be released in spring 2020. Great way to save R&D dollars.

Based on the A4/S4 refresh, the extent of the serious engineering "improvements" is the addition of a touchscreen and more piano black trim to the interior. It seems that the B9.5 refresh is low priority on Audi's R&D list.

Like most past Audi facelift's, the extent of them are a few exterior cosmetic changes and updated Infotainment. Not sure about there not being a 2020 RS5. It's been spied already.

At some point an RS5 Performance was supposed to being worked on and rumored, but not sure if that project is dead or if they decided to skip the 2020 RS5 and come out with a 2021 RS5 Performance.
Otherwise, the updates are largely similar to the 2020 A4. Biggest one being a larger protruding stuck on display that's now a touchscreen and running the latest MMI and updated virtual cockpit all running the new HERE platform. The physical MMI controls are gone. I think it's worse than the old one, IMHO. They had to make it stick out some now, so it's easier to reach for touch. They didn't even bother redesigning the dash to integrate it like it is on the newer cars. The B9.5 is not getting the new touchscreen climate controls, either. The facelifted Q7 is getting the dash from the Q8, so it will look much fresher when it's unveiled. Coupes and sedans are unfortunately not what people buy anymore these days. I'm curious if the Q5 is gonna get more attention for the facelift.

Hence the use of quotes around "improvements". Unfortunately, that's about all that the refresh will bring, and very likely few or none of the things people on the forum are requesting.

I traded a 2016 S5 for a 2018 Q5. Then traded the 2018 Q5 for a 2019 S5. I really wanted a RS. It will help my relationship with my wife if they delay the RS until 2021. Hard to explain a need to trade a 2019 S for a 2020 RS. 2021? I can probably come up with some BS as to why it’s necessary to trade a 2 year old S5. At least I have a while to craft my story. As for touch screens, my dog loves them. Steve the English Springer Spaniel knows if he wacks one with his paw something will happen. Like some god awful Sirius/XM music station. It’s almost like his 4 weeks of training with a former military canine trainer thought him how to find disco music. Btw, the touch screen was an an inferior brand of automobile.
