Default Negotiation on 2021 RS5 Black Optic SB?

Hypothetical question here, more curious than anything else...

If a 2021 RS5 Black Optic edition sport back became available, would it be safe to say there would be no room for negotiation on the car due to it’s limited numbers?

The '19s ( no 2020 models) sat on lots unsold for a longtime and were eventually heavily discounted. ( I got 20% off the Monroney sticker on mine and actually paid less than I did for my wife's '20 S5 SB Prestige). Unless you have money to burn I would think you should be patient when buying an RS5 or an RS6. I really like my RS5, but I was going to buy an S5 Coupe and then I found out on Autotrader that the RS5s were being heavily discounted and the dealers were being helped by Audi. If there's one sitting on a lot currently, it's a '19 model as the 2021 models haven't reached the USA yet.

You may want to consider a '19 as they are so heavily discounted right now.
I ran out and picked up a '19 once I saw the changes in the '21. I was shocked at how easy it was to talk them down. My RS5 sticker-ed just over 100k and I picked it up for 86.
So unless there is some killer feather in the '21 you want (there isn't) I would give the '19 a look.

Agreed. For the price ( and essentially the exact same car ) you can't beat a '19 on a lot somewhere. The only thing I think is nice about the '21 is the new MMI. However, I don't find myself using many features on my current one. Basic navi and phone is all.

Negotiating is going to be a lot harder now than is use to be. Since production stopped, dealers are scrambling to find cars to sell in my area. I spoke to my local dealer and they told me the 10-12% off that I got will not apply anymore because people are paying MSRP for cars.

Agree with the above few posts - I picked up a lightly optioned '19 RS5 coupe for the price of a '20/21 S5 in August. Can't speak to the current market.

Just like Uncle Buck, but mine was fairly heavily optioned. I was looking at a new S5 but got a -20% deal on the RS5.

except there are no 19's left...a ton of car for the money, but the discount was via Audi, not via the dealership

Yes, unless your dealer is an ahole (and many are). I just got finished spec'd a clients RS5 build - while I'd love him to pay MSRP, it's not practical in the current marketplace. Dealers did this to themselves however. In our case, he's a repeat client, local, and me giving him a good deal is part of what keeps him as a good client.

I'm also looking into ordering a custom RS5 Coupe sometime soon. How much of a discount could I reasonably expect and does it matter when it comes to obtaining one of the special launch editions? Also, any ideas when RS5s when will start arriving at dealerships (I'm in the Northeast btw)?
