It's not new, it's the second facelift of the 2013 model. That's why the interior is almost identical.

The interior is showing its age and the engine has been around the block a few times!

Yeah, disappointing on the engine front. Toyota can get away with putting a 20 year old engine in the 4Runner, but I'd hoped to see something more competitive in this class especially with things like the new TL Type S coming out.

Seriously, this is just another facelift? I thought since the exterior looks so different they would do it this time. I was going to ask if the engine is carry-over, it's insane that they're doing it again when the original IS350 engine was already a carry-over. That thing gets abysmal mileage and has the power of a 2.0T.

Lexus threw a bait and switch. They made a big deal of what turned out to be another mid-cycle refresh of the existing model. They refreshed the exterior and suspension and called it a day for the most part. The powertrain options are woefully uncompetitive compared to equivalent price point competitors. Mainline Toyota vehicles are getting a lot more love than Lexus at the moment. Is this their Acura moment?

No. It's still not as bad as the TL with the beak.

I meant in terms of malaise vehicles outside their CUVs and NSX. They haven't had a really great driving sedan since the 2004-2008 Acura TL regardless of ugly styling. Maybe the new one will be a renaissance.

Going back to the new 4 Series, I saw that active lane assistant is standard on all models. Hopefully that pushes Audi to include it on all models as well as standard equipment as well as anything else that BMW has standard that Audi does not. At least BMW gave up on its ridiculous idea to charge monthly for Apple Carplay functionality!

It was a really good engine when it was released 15 years ago. I remember back in 2005 or 2006, it wasn't too far off the BMW N54 and would smoke the other competitive NA V6s. On the bright side, it has dual injection, so intake carbon should not be a problem, and it will be extremely reliable in general.

Lexus says it's an all new model with new suspension.

Since Lexus is keeping the power at 241-hp in the IS300 and a 311-hp V-6 in the IS350; a bone stock A5 or S5 will have plenty of fun reminding the owner that maybe someday it can challenge the four rings! Maybe someday!
