Default Foot activation liftgate

Hey all! New 2019 RS5 with matte aluminum carbon optics owner.
can anyone tell me definitively whether or not this car has the ‘kick’ activation for opening the liftgate? I have tried many times and cant get it to work. Is this an option one has to order or do they all come with it and mine just needs a visit to the shop?
driving me crazy. Thanks!

I would think yours would have that feature. To activate it:

1) The key fob must be with you
2) Engine is off
3) standing about a foot behind the CENTER of the rear bumper slowly kick your foot under the bumper and back out again (you do not stop your foot under the bumper)
4) wait about 3 seconds and the hatch should open

Usually the errors come from:

1) not being at the center of the bumper
2) holding your foot under the bumper and not kicking in then out in one smooth motion
3) sweeping your foot side to side when under the bumper instead of just in then out
4) not having the key fob with you

IIRC, if you have the “exterior Black Out Carbon Fiber” package, the kick to open trunk / hatch does not work. The lower rear fascia of Carbon Fiber prevents the kick to open action from working.

John is correct

I have the carbon package on my RS5 SB and the foot action tailgate does not work. I asked my dealer and they double checked and also showed me on the monroney label that it was not an included feature.

Sorry, but that's not true. As long as you sweep past the center of the bumper, it'll work, presuming that you have the feature in the first place. I've done it this way many, many times.

Is the carbon package different from the Black Optics package? I have Black Optics, and kick-to-open works fine.
