Default BMW 440i vs. Audi A5 vs. Audi S5

Hey guys, first time poster here, looking for some feedback / advice on three offers I'm considering. Wondering if these are decent deals. All leases for 36 months @ 10k miles / year. Each monthly amt is post-tax (Southern California). I've been negotiating in a bit of a bubble so not sure if these are at / above / below market. The BMW stands out as an great deal but maybe I'm naive.

I'd love to make the S5 work as don't care about options but wondering how much further people think I can get price down (if at all). Maybe blasphemous to say on this board but seems like the 440 and S5 are quite similar performance wise (or are they?)...but the 440 w/ options is cheaper than the bare S5. Would love someone to talk me out of the BMW (even if these prices held)...what am I missing? I have tier I credit.

- '18 BMW 440i Coupe (snapper rocks blue): $57.7k MSRP / $599 / month @ $3,500 down (has premium package which includes nav, M-Sport package as well). MF = .0017 / Residual = 57% / cap cost = $48k

- '18 Audi A5 Coupe (white): $53.3k MSRP / $600 / month @$2,999 down (premium plus w/ S-Line and 19 inch wheels). MF = .0013 / Residual = 58% / cap cost = $47k

- '18 Audi S5 Coupe (black): $56k MSRP / $621 / month @ $3,500 down (this car has literally no options). MF = .0013 / Residual = 57% / cap cost = $51.5k

Thanks!

I had a 2013 B8.5 S4 and switched to a 340i XDrive when my S4 lease was up and the B9 S4s/S5s was still almost a year away.

What I can say is that the straight six single twin scroll turbo B58 engine in the 340i/440i is one great engine.

It pulls very hard and really throws you back...much more so than the V6 supercharged engine in my 2013 S4.

Plus a really great exhaust note...mine is bone stock...but I often get asked if its after market.

What sets Audi apart are the options...their navigation and other goodies just blow BMW away.

However, if the S5 you are looking at is sans the goodies....then the 440i would be a good choice.

You cannot go wrong with the B58 engine.

Its a real blast!

Test drove the 440, it drives incredibly. No contest between that and A5 at these offers...now I need to see if S5 can come down on price...

Just one comment for you - the money factor on the BMW is being marked up. The base MF should be .00151. That may give you a little more room to negotiate.

I'm interested in your decision as I'm looking at very similar options right now. I'm deciding between an S4 Prestige, BMW 440i (pretty much fully loaded), and the Jaguar XE S. I know that it's not an apples-to-apples comparison with the coupe to the two sedans, but I'm not a fan of the BMW 340i. They all come in around the same MSRP.

Good catch - thanks!

The fact they got cap cost down to $49k from $57k seems fairly aggressive...I think 57% is an avg residual so deal overall strikes me as good. I'm test driving the S5 on Thursday, given it's devoid of options it'll have to be much more fun to drive than the 440 to push me that direction.

Good to see so many of us in same decision process. I have a very well loaded 440i coupe with almost $7k of M Perf parts on the table and I'm also looking at an S5 pretty well loaded. The S5 is about 50-80 more per month. What is swaying the price difference are the BMW incentives. However, Audi accepts MSD's and it helps bring the price down.

They both drive great (440i with Power and sound kit will rock - I have it on my current 435 and I hear it has gotten better). I did feel the exhaust of the S5 sounded a bit fake (speakers?). Can't go wrong with either.

Awesome...one thing giving me pause is the BMW forum told me a 57% residual is low and likely to improve in Sept.

The MF on BMW should be 0.00151. I think the residual is 56% on 36/10, not 57%. I could be wrong on residual

I thought residual on S5 was 60% on 36/15. Am I wrong?

If it were me... A5 is a different car and while great, I would only chose it is I wanted my payments to be less.

440i with options would win me over an S5 without. In my mind the BMW needs M-Sport, track package and M Power and Sound and the S5 needs S Sport and Dyn Steering. This would bring out the true beast in the cars. Of course, that is me

Yes - I flagged MF to BMW - appears to be inflated. Residual is def 57% (4 dealers quoted same). Feel like I should wait until Sept and see if quotes come down...being in SoCal there are 10-12 coupes within 50 miles that meet my options preferences. Do people think deals improve once Q4 hits in Sept? Or is that not really a thing?
