Thanks for all the replies. Don't "need" a car really, just always looking. I thought the RS3 was more fun to drive but the materials and interior of the RS5 was much better. For the dimension difference there didn't seem to be as much of a space advantage for the sportback but regardless the RS3 looks too small to the wife.

Having come from an Stage 2 8V S3 (essentially stock RS3 power) and now driving an RS5 SB, there is actually a big difference in space between the two cars. It may not seem like it at first glance, but I can definitely tell a difference having owned and lived with both. I can now fit my 3 year old daughter in the backseat without having to slide the front seat all the way forward, which is a huge plus for the wife. Plus there is a lot more trunk space in the RS5 SB. I could only fit a stroller diagonally in the trunk of the S3. The stroller easily fits in the back of RS5 SB. Not to mention, the hatch makes the luggage area even more usable/accessible.

Factor in the interior quality, the tech, and the added refinement of the RS5 and it's a MUCH better daily driver and road trip car as compared to the S3/RS3. That said, because it's bigger and heavier, the RS5 is not nearly as toss-able and fun on the back roads as the S3. I'm sure it's just as fast, but you can definitely feel the size and weight.

Take all that with a grain of salt though, since I still might be trying to justify selling my Porsche Turbo and modded S3 for a stock RS5 SB #dadlife

Can you go for a test drive with her? As a short person - I was impressed with how well the RS5 fit me and how adjustable the driver experience is.

Not to mention the car looks great and is a lot of fun to drive!

Plenty of cargo space - this is after a Costco Run

Gave up a 911 turbo??? Yea the sportback seems like a great daily driver, much more premium feeling car but loses some of the pocket rocket fun of the rs3. It's odd, we have a minivan and an SUV for kid duty but for some reason my wife insists we still need a car with space. I wish I ordered an Irish green one but oh well

Love the license plate sitting back there, as that is where my front plate is and will always be

They took it off when we got the car wrapped - it looks so much better without the front plate.

No hesitation. Explosive acceleration. To name a few. 😁

Love mine..had it since March 2019 and about 8k on the odometer and its my daily driver and does the job well. Also great interstate cruiser and has enough speed and power for almost any need you'll have. Add to it the space avail with the sportback its a no brainer. Most versatile car I've owned...one of the reasons I got it was that I missed the 2012 Audi A7 I had previously which I traded for a 2012 BMW 550I due to the upgrade in power (M5 engine de-tuned). Always liked the RS7 but felt the chassis was a bit bigger than wanted and needed S7 or RS7 power to properly manage. RS5 is almost like Goldilocks man in the story about the three bears...just right! Size! Power! Driving Dynamics! Comfort! Tech! It is the real deal. You will love it! All of us do! lol

Oh yeah engine issues?? Yep. It goes too fast!
