I won't even try to understand Audi logic. If they were trying to save money....why install the hardware?
On my car the physical hardware is there but OBD11 scan says "incorrect module"

Yeah, that doesn't make any sense at all to be installing the control module and aerial but then just disabling it, for any reason. It's clearly not a supply of components issue if the components are actually there. And that it can't be corrected with the installation of a working module (with matching aerial) is simply bs. parts.audiusa.com shows it being installed on MY23, and not present at all on MY24. So it seems to be an intentional act by AoA to disable the function and prevent it, though Audi AG was still putting them on the cars in MY23. Probably some attempt to sidestep a possible legal issue with them closing incorrectly on people? Or false openings? But it doesn't seem to be a "supplies" issue, unless the supplier started shipping subgrade components for MY23 and AoA simply said "yeah no". Whatever it is, whatever is coming out of AoA on the issue is either not the actual or the complete truth of the matter.

My 2022 S5 SB has it. Looks like I got a bit lucky.

For the Sportback owners who are used to motorized closing, the trunk lid on the Coupé version is non-powered, except by the trunk springs on opening. Closing in a matter of “human power.”

Yet another disappointment coming out of Audi of America.

As a supply chain executive in 2024 and in the industry 15+ years - Anyone playing the "supply chain pandemic" card is either lazy, dumb, or dishonest (possibly all 3).

I'm guessing that, at the time, it was cheaper for Audi corporate to keep building the cars with the hardware but they intentionally made it impossible to activate so customers wouldn't get a "free feature". I haven't heard of closing or opening issues with the trunk and it's still enabled elsewhere in the world.

This was probably the only disappointment I have with my 2024 RS5 Comp. I had 2021 RS5, and it had it, and now I miss it a lot.
Wonder if this can be enabled via coding somehow, but if the modules/parts are missing, then I guess I am SOL, unless I get a retrofit kit. (Too much work)
