Default 2021 S5 Map update (MMI update done)

Could someone take the time and document the steps for doing a map update? I have the zip files. I have googled it but am stumped. Most instructions mention an SD card, but I have none, only USB. I'm somewhat tech savvy, have done a number of OBD11 changes. The gigantic map update thread was good for finding and downloading the new maps.

Default SD to USB

sure you found by now, but there are SD to USB converters out there. Amazon.

That's kind of beside the point. Stll need to know how to load the maps regardless of media.

Why aren't you doing an OTA update? That's what I'm doing with my 2021 S5

Need a paid data connection for that to work.

Isn't the 2021 a MIB3, for which I have not seen an offline map update package.
So perhaps you are just trying to feed the MIB3 with a MIB1/2 map and it's not liking that.

I have downloaded an MIB3 offline package somewhere from this site, and it worked on my 2021 RS5. However, when I tried another supposedly newer package, it did not work. So I am thinking that the update time limit has passed for my car.

@Crusisn76 Thanks for actually reading and understanding my question. This was very helpful, and I got the update done. Actually, this was almost embarrassingly easy. Put in the USB stick, .the system recognized that it was an update and asked if I wanted to install it. I have been around Audis for a long time, and there have always been hoops to jump through if you wanted to do stuff on your own. Question, did you use the RAR archive? If you did, what map version did you end up with? I used a different file and ended up with 2021.09_p0706.

Thanks again, very helpful.

To answer my own question, the RAR file that reply #4 points to is the same as I already had. 2021.09_p0706, even if the filename says 2022/2023.
