2020 Audi A5 Sportback - Headlight not working
Hello
Recently the passenger side headlight on my 2020 Audi A5 Sportback has stopped working. This is the matrix LED unit with dynamic indicators. To confirm, the headlamp is completely inoperable with no indicator, dipped beam or main beam functions. I have multiple errors on the dashboard and so ran a VCDS scan which I've pasted below.
So far I have checked the fuses and swapped the light control module out for a new one with no success.
Could I please have some help with this? Your help is greatly appreciated.

R U still under factory warranty - while much of the Audi warranty wording excludes bulbs, the matrix headlight is very expensive to replace.

"matrix" doesn't clarify if this is 8IY or 8IZ.
Everything on the "matrix" headlamp for B9.5 is run by the headlamp control module. 8-pin plug, 5 wires:
1 - can high
2 - can low
3 - term 56B (dimming, I assume this is some kind of fallback for turning the low beam on if CAN is dead)
4 - term 30 (12v)
5 - term 31 (ground)
Do you measure 12v from 4 to 5 on the plug? Do you measure CAN voltage activity from 1 to 5 (2.5 to 3.5 v) and 2 to 5 (2.5 to 1.5 v)? CAN is a differential signal, basically, if you measure from 1 to 2, you should measure alternating 0v / 2v. But you can't see the CAN signal without a scope.
But the harness plug does not connect to the control module directly. There's going to be an internal harness from the headlamp housing plug to the control module. You'll have to trace that and then check the voltages at the plug that actually goes into the control module.
It's more likely your issue is with the inner wiring than with the harness to the headlamp. But stuff happens with terminal pins.
Then again,

Thank you kindly for your reply. I was leaning towards a headlamp issue as I had crossed off fusing and the light control module itself.
In order to remove the headlamp, it looks like I need better access to get to the screws. Do you have a diagram or directions on how to remove the front bumper to gain access?

If you're going to work on your car, you should want the workshop manuals for it. Audi makes those available at erwin.audiusa.com, but accessing the documentation requires an active subscription. I talk about that in this post: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-.../#post25902766

The other option is to remove both headlamps, put the right headlamp on the left harness plug and see if it works. If it doesn't, it's in the wiring harness or the J519 itself. If it does, then it's something in that left headlamp.
Also, looks like the wire on pin 3 is only for the 8IZ headlamps, not the 8IY. So depending on which you have, there may or may not be a wire on 3.
Also, breaking down the path of the 8-pin on the headlamp to the 44-pin connector on the control module:
1 - CAN high > pins 25 and 26
2 - CAN low > pins 23 and 24
3 - term 56B > pin 9, only if 8IZ
4 - 12v > pin 37
5 - GND > pin 1
Then pin 29 determines if the headlamp is the left or right one. If the control module pin 29 is connected to 12v, it's the right headlamp. If the pin 29 is connected to ground, it's the left headlamp. So the internal harness of the left and right headlamps will not be the same.
term 56B is "low beam", so I assume the analog backup. But I don't know why the wiring diagrams says it's only there on 8IZ.
