On the q7s many of us had had popping creek noises coming from the interior upper b pillar trim panel. With your hand, give the trim a nudge where it meets the ceiling and where it meets the lower B pillar trim. If you hear a creek this could be one of the sources. There is a TSB out for the Q7 on this and it’s a very easy fix. While I realize this will not help with the door rattles and creaking plastics on the dash etc. maybe it will help some of you out a little bit

Another noise comes from the rear deck/trunk area. It sounds like rain drop hitting on the window/trunk area except it's sunny out. Perhaps expansion of trim?

If your dealership had tried something and worked, please share here.

As to no noise with a cabriolet, perhaps the structure is different since there is no B or C pillars. And with the soft top, the road noise maybe a tad louder than in a coupe? If I roll down my windows or open my sunroof, I don't hear rattle/buzz noise.
I wonder if the reason my Cabriolet doesn't have rattles is because of the additional structural bracing inherent to the cab.

Mine has been noise/rattle free. 4600 miles. In fact, when in "Comfort" mode, driving 40-50 mph, the dang thing is so quiet I have to put it back in dynamic/sport to remind myself of what I'm actually driving.

I'm just about 1,700 miles in, and I haven't really heard anything. I've heard the seat belt deliverer rattle once or twice over bumps, but I'd expect any car to make noises over bumps. Otherwise, it's actually very quiet.

Is this due to engine being too fast like 6 cylinders or just models? I am worried if I get a5 sb I get into same problem....thanks

Sorry to read about all these rattles. I once sold a car right away because of it and it was a Lexus of all cars, so I know how annoying it can be.
My s5 coupe thou, has been very silent indeed in her first 23k so far 🤞

Might be a dumb question but if you get it new and the rattle appears does it count as a lemon? Or its "your fault" for not noticing during test drive?

Can't specifically talk about the B9, but creaks when going up driveways and such kinda comes with the territory. The stiffer a car is sprung the more the chassis flexes if you go sideways over an incline. There isn't much that can be done other than stiffening up the chassis some more. On the B8 things like the AluKreuz tends to reduce the chassis creaks due to the extra stiffening of the sub frame. As far as rattles in the rear goes, that's often caused by the rear seat belts. It took me a while to locate the source in my B8, but I now keep the seat belts in the back fastened so they don't bang or vibrate against the plastic trim. I had an issue with the trunk liner rattling and they replaced it. They tend to get thinner and thinner and start flexing and moving when driving. Interestingly the replacement feels a lot sturdier. I also had a rear shelf rattle due to a broken clip. That's all issues I had in my B8. Some of them are probably prone to occur on the B9 as well. For having almost 65k miles now and having done some really hard driving over the years, I must say the B8 build feels very solid. Would be a shame if the B9 shows poor build quality this early in the cycle, but rattles, squeaks and creaks aren't really unheard of. Even the B8 had it's known sources of rattles.
