Default Water Pump failure

My 2010 S5 Cabriolet's water pump died Just outside Audi service as I was bringing her in for her 5k service. Literally, I was making a left into the parking lot... They had a list of cars with a similar issue. Cmon Audi: fess up!!! Show me I didn't make a mistake buying your brand. Short of being a gas guzzler with a fairly small gas tank, I love this car. Can't wait to drive her in the snow!

Think that is the V6T issue. My brother had the same problem recently on his S4. Guess you should have got a V8.

There's a bunch of discussion of this problem over on in the S4 section. I'm hoping mine (manufactured a few weeks ago) should be ok, with the newer water pump, but I'm sure going to keep an eye on it...

3.2's, 3.0TDI's and 3.0T's have been affected. The replacement pump works perfectly. I've had mine done.

The 2011's should not have this probelm, as this was an issue with the early 10's with the plastic pump.

Fear not- mention any car brand, and i'll find you problems within 5 minutes. It's simply the accelerating race all manufacturers are in to bring out new and exciting cars. They'll each eventually fall on their face- it's inevitable.

Lucky my water pump burst just as I was turning into a parking space. It is a good thing that there was nobody else parked in that part of the lot because when it went, it splashed antifreeze all over my belts and I lost all steering capabilities.

What would have happened if I was driving on the LIE at 75 MPH??

Audi explained that my car had the plastic pump and that it was replaced with the new metal pump.

The only after effect was smelling the buring antifreeze for months after. It is pretty much gone now.

Right, the S5 coupes have reported no issues at all since they were released.

Contact your dealer and have them change out the thermostat as well while the car is in the shop. Apparently, the S4 members are reporting that there may have also been a bad batch of thermostats used as well.

Here we go again.

With a few exceptions, only the Audis from 1984 to 1990 and especially 1998 to 2004 are of poor quality. Otherwise, you are dead wrong, hwks1. So quit bull****ting people with bull**** claims like that!

FWIW, the 2005+ Audis that are typically (but by NO means entirely) troublesome are: the 2004 A8L 4.2, the 2005+ A8 4.2 and A8L 4.2 (the only A8s that ruined the previous A8 in Consumer Reports-or CR for short), the 2005 and early build 2006 A8L W12, the 3.0T and 4.2 versions of the Q7 (the only versions of the Q7 that ruined the Q7 in CR), all versions of the 2005 and early build 2006 A6, the 3.0T version only of the 2009 to 2011 A6 (the only version of the current A6 that ruined the current A6 in CR), all versions of the 2009 Q5 (the only Q5s that ruined the Q5 in CR) all versions of the 2007 to 2009 A3 (the only A3s that ruined the current A3 in CR) and all versions of the 2008 to 2010 TT (the only TTs that ruined the current TT in CR).

Otherwise, all 2005+ Audis are typically (but by NO means entirely) trouble free (despite what disgruntled, judgmental North American Audi financers, leasees and owners on the Audi message boards-particularly the North American Audi financers, leasees and owners such as yourself, hwks1, here on AudiWorld would lead-or mis lead people to believe) according to CR and TD. The vehicle financiers, leasers and owners CR and True Delta survey make up for a far greater percentage of vehicle owners worldwide than vehicle financiers, leasers and owners on a vehicle message board. As a result, CR and TD are far more trustworthy than a vehicle message board.
