They wouldn't let me just run to my car to test it out, and they have a separate return counter which will not check out item for me).
I just used an adjustable wrench.

1. Using a bone tool (or similar implement), run the hardwire cord from your chosen location down the front pillar, around the corner where the windshield meets the dash and back along the dash until you reach the driver's side fuse box. The bone tool does a great job of pushing the cord into the thin gap without cutting the outer sheath:

2. Find a suitable location for the ground wire:

3. Plug-in the cord to the connector:

4. Using a TAPA Circuit (ATO, not mini), connect the lead to the end of your hard-wire connector:

<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v318/lakid042/?action=view¤t=install4Medium.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/lakid042/install4Medium.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

5. Insert a 7.5 amp fuse into the applicable slot of the TAPA circuit and tuck all the wiring in above the fuse block:

<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v318/lakid042/?action=view¤t=install6Medium.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/lakid042/install6Medium.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

6. I used the unused slot #10 which in my car is labeled "Gearshift Gate":

<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v318/lakid042/?action=view¤t=install7Medium.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/lakid042/install7Medium.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

7. Replace the cover and you're done!

<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v318/lakid042/?action=view¤t=install8Medium.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/lakid042/install8Medium.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v318/lakid042/?action=view¤t=install9Medium.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/lakid042/install9Medium.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Quick note: Installed the V1 power adapter in my 2011 A5 yesterday. The driver side fuse box has 3 "banks" of fuses. The left bank of the 3 now employs mini-blade fuses (dont recall the technical name). So make sure to get the proper sized fuse tap, or use the top-most full-sized fuse in the center of the 3 columns. Its switched and works fine with the V1.

Fellas - I just wired my Q7 for my V1. I followed the instructions exactly, but for some reason, I am not getting power via the fuse box. I tested the cable leading to the V1 by wiring it to the lighter outlet, so the cable still works, the V1 works, the fusebox still works because the components work for each of the fuses i tried. Tried the ground in 3 different places.......

Any ideas?

THANKS!

Marc

In the photo #6, look at the silver 10mm bolt. That's where you can ground it.

Hey -- I had the exact same problem...I couldn't get power to the V1 for the life of me. I finally did tap into a fuse that worked though, after trying every single option available to me that was switched. Try using the "convenience electronics" fuse in port C location 12 in the driver's side fuse panel. For some reason this was the only place that was able to draw enough power to get the V1 up and running...

Good luck, and let me know if this helps.
